Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go. This season feels particularly gold and yellow.
There is something about watching seasons and living through them. A reminder that time does heal all. It provides perspective, as time passes you can gain a clearer understanding of a situation and emotions. It allows reflection, time gives you the chances to process experiences and learn. The more time the more insight, developing deeper awareness of yourself, others and your surroundings. Time increases acceptance, letting go of past hurts, easier to forgive and align actions with values. Fostering emotional resilience. Healing is an active process, not passive. Requiring intentional effort.
Reminding us that time helps us heal what reason cannot and seasons are a new page. You can always go back to reread a certain part. Each page is to your entire book. Your story. Each experience, memory and happenings that make up you. Sometimes the next season or chapter feels faster, exciting or thrilling. Other times it can feel slower, dull and you need a reset. Time allows awareness in helping us transition from one state to another.
Reset, readjust, refocus, restart and reboot. When emotional pile ups happen that's where an emotional reset comes in.
As if you were rebooting your internal system, clearing out "files" to allow yourself to return to a more centered state. "Name it to tame it," they say, when naming your emotions, you take the first step in calming them. Focusing on your breath, slowing the breath, allows your heart rate and nervous system signals know you are safe. Emotional overhwelm is fueled by the stories we tell ourselves. Reset the story, challenge these stories. Such as the question "Is there another way to see this situation?." Reset the narrative to be something more compassionate and true. Choosing the next best action, "What is one small thing I can do right now to feel a little better?." Tiny steps, bite by bite are enough. It could be drinking water, stepping outside, healthy methods that pull you out of your head and into your body, where the emotional noise isn't so static.
It's the little details that are vital.
